Good Casting Skills as a Foundation

Casting skills are directly related to fishing success. You may be expert at reading the water, insect-life cycles or fish habits, but if you cannot deliver the fly, bait or lure you are likely to be disappointed. The more skilled you are at casting the more fish you will catch.

The Oakland Casting Club provides free casting lessons to the public, for all skill levels and for all varieties of casting (Dry and Wet Fly Fishing, Bait, Spin, Spey, Two Handed and Distance Casting).

Most members will provide informal free casting advice and instruction through out the year, when asked. Some members are usually present weekend mornings, and occasionally weekdays.

Free casting lessons are held on the Third Saturday of each month from March through July from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Leona Casting Pools. At the formal lessons you can be sure that some of the world's best casters and instructors are available. No reservations are needed, just drop by. But we would appreciate to email us (Oakland Casting Club) to let us know you will be coming, and your approximate skill level.
